Dispersion Products

Dispersion Products Overview

Fluoropolymer dispersions are formulations that allow high-performance fluoropolymers to be applied as coatings or impregnated into substrates without the need for traditional melt processing. These dispersions enable uniform coverage on complex surfaces and materials, delivering the same exceptional chemical resistance, low friction, and thermal stability associated with fluoropolymers. They are widely used in coatings, films, fabrics, and industrial components where a thin, consistent layer of fluoropolymer performance is required. Baillie Advanced Materials offers a comprehensive portfolio of dispersion products including:

  • PTFE

  • PFA

  • FEP

  • MP

PTFE

PTFE dispersion products provide the highest level of fluoropolymer performance in a form that can be applied as a coating or used to impregnate porous materials. They deliver exceptional chemical resistance, extremely low friction, and outstanding thermal stability, making them ideal for applications where a durable, non-stick, and high-purity surface is required.

These dispersions offer near-universal chemical resistance and continuous service temperatures up to approximately 260°C. Their ultra-low surface energy and excellent electrical insulation properties make them well-suited for demanding industrial, electrical, and high-purity environments.

PTFE dispersions are typically applied through dipping, spraying, or coating processes and then sintered to form a continuous, high-performance PTFE layer. This enables uniform coverage on complex shapes and substrates where traditional processing is not feasible.

PFA

PFA dispersion products deliver PTFE-like performance in a form that can be applied as a coating or used to impregnate substrates, making them ideal for applications that require extreme performance with precise, uniform coverage. They are especially well-suited for high-purity and high-performance environments where traditional processing methods are not practical.

These dispersions provide near-universal chemical resistance and exceptional thermal stability, with service temperatures up to approximately 260°C. Their ultra-high purity, low-friction surface, and excellent electrical properties make them a reliable choice for sensitive applications across semiconductor, chemical processing, and pharmaceutical industries.

PFA dispersions are typically applied through spraying, dipping, or coating processes and then sintered to form a continuous fluoropolymer layer. This allows for consistent thickness, strong adhesion, and high-performance surface characteristics on complex components.

FEP

FEP dispersion products offer excellent chemical resistance, strong electrical properties, and high optical clarity, making them ideal for applications requiring thin, uniform coverage on complex surfaces.

With a very low dielectric constant and dissipation factor, FEP dispersions help maintain signal integrity in high-frequency and high-speed environments. Their low-friction, non-stick surface and strong UV and weather resistance ensure reliable performance across a wide range of conditions.

Applied through coating, dipping, or spraying and then sintered into a continuous layer, FEP dispersions are commonly used in wire insulation, release coatings, films, and chemically resistant linings. They provide durable performance at elevated temperatures along with the trusted properties of FEP.

MP

Micropowder (MP) dispersion products are finely dispersed fluoropolymer or high-performance polymer particles suspended in a liquid medium, designed to enhance surface properties when applied as coatings or additives. These dispersions provide benefits such as reduced friction, improved wear resistance, and enhanced chemical and thermal stability, making them ideal for applications where surface performance is critical. They are commonly used to modify coatings, inks, lubricants, and composites to achieve smoother finishes, improved durability, and non-stick characteristics.

MP dispersions are typically applied through standard coating or blending processes, allowing for uniform distribution of particles and consistent performance across surfaces or within materials. They can be tailored to specific application needs, offering controlled particle size, dispersion stability, and compatibility with various systems. As a result, MP dispersion products are widely used in industrial coatings, mold release systems, and performance-enhancing additives where long-term reliability and surface optimization are essential.
